Position Summary:
Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Delivery Service Representatives through Servant Leadership. This position is a customer facing role and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day Transportation operations, ensuring that the company’s goals on Safety, Quality, Service, Cost and Morale are consistently achieved.
Supervises a team of Delivery Service Representatives towards providing customers with a high quality of service through the consistent application of best practices and standard procedures.
Collaborates with the Sales department to ensure customer concerns are addressed.
Evaluates individual and team performance using scorecard results and conducts root cause analysis on operational issues.
Promotes a culture of recognition for excellent performance.
Builds strong relationships with team members, peers and customers. Responds to team member questions and concerns in a timely manner. Seeks to understand the needs of team members and customers.
Conducts regular mentoring and coaching with team members.
Performs administrative tasks, to include approving time cards, reviewing incentives and documenting driver performance.
Monitors delivery operations and driver performance during the shift using the company’s systems and telematics software.
Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently followed through training, performing audits and follow-up coaching.
Conducts weekly and quarterly planning of transportation resources (labour, delivery tools and equipment) aligned with business requirements and efficiency goals.
Works with Human Resources in recruiting and retaining Delivery Service Representatives.
Identifies and develops opportunities to continuously improve operational metrics.
Actively participates in special projects within the department.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the Transportation industry.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills & Competencies:
Class 1 Driver’s License
5 years previous Transportation or Warehouse experience with 2 years previous supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Flexible schedule and ability to work on Statutory Holidays is required.
Ability to build relationships and interact effectively with all levels and departments within Gordon Food Service.
Demonstrates Servant Leadership and Gordon Food Service Cornerstone Values.

Must have an understanding of DOT rules and regulations
