Position Summary:
The Product Specialist – Fruits, Vegetables, Dairy, Processed Potatoes & Appetizers (FVD) is responsible for providing sales support, product knowledge, and guidance to the sales group while consistently improving their knowledge of the product category. This position will identify customer needs and provide options that meet their requirements to create additional sales. In addition, this position provides training to the sales department and our customers.
The successful applicant will be based out of the Delta, BC facility.
The compensation package for this position ranges from $70,000 to $98,000 on an annual basis.

Essential Functions:
The Product Specialist – FVD works with the sales team driving FVD sales with existing customers and identifying new opportunities
Provides relevant business solutions to complement the initiatives of our Sales and Marketing teams, with an ultimate goal of increasing the overall market share of Gordon Food Service.
Keeps current with FVD product trends
Provides problem analysis and resolution to customers and sales representatives on product related concerns
Researches local FVD trends and provides guidance to support customer relationship management.
Provides insights to divisional Marketing and Sales teams, and contributes to the success of customer events and activities that result in business metric improvement for both customer and company.
Provides local FVD knowledge and support, insights, division and customer relationship management training, and engagement to help support business growth (for both customers and company).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Strong food service knowledge and skill
Strong product category experience and knowledge
Ability to develop creative food solutions
Exceptional customer service skills
Proficient communication skills ‐ both written and verbal ‐ to communicate effectively with a broad‐based team including diverse internal stakeholders and vendors
Proficient skill in presentation creation and delivery
Time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects
Strong business acumen and understanding of restaurant operations
Proven ability to deliver results and facilitate a collaborative environment
Must be available to travel within BC 25% of the time
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education in Business, Sales or Culinary certification (such as Red Seal) is preferred
Several years’ experience in food service sales as well as experience with Sales and negotiation principles and procedures
