Position Summary:
The responsibility of the Custodian (Sanitarian/Pallet Maintenance) is to perform general warehouse cleaning duties that help keep the facility in a clean and orderly condition.
Shift and Compensation:
Monday to Friday 6:00am – 2:00pm

Specific Responsibilities and Functions:
Perform general warehouse cleaning duties as per the Master Sanitation schedule and janitorial SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, dust, and sanitize various floors of the warehouse, office space, lunchrooms, and washrooms.
Successfully complete Preventive Maintenance (PMs) that are issued on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis within set timeframes.
Empty recycle and garbage containers regularly.
Check and maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies and replenish when required.
Clean all warehouse zones, pull and clean pallets, dust/clean warehouse floors; average of 10 bays/hour.
Assist with spills in a prompt and efficient manner.
Empty wrap bins and sweep debris from aisles.
Outside cleaning may be required.
Other duties assigned as required.
Adhere to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Adherence to food safety GMP’s as per Gordon Food Service Distribution Center Food Safety program.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to three (3) different temperature zones within the warehouse.
Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.
Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.
Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately –15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as -23 degrees C.
Moderate noise level.
CSA approved steel-toed safety boots must be worn on the warehouse floor.
Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to various food-safe cleaning detergents and soaps.
Must be able to operate various forklifts, battery changer, and floor scrubber. Some basic knowledge of computer operations is required.
