Position Summary:

Provides effective, consistent servant leadership to the Gordon Food Service (GFS) SCM Replenishment Supply Chain Team.Ā  Leads, builds and develops a team who leads the day to day inbound replenishment activities for Gordon Food Service Canada Distribution Centers. Responsible for managing all replenishment, vendor/item validation and maintenance processes,Ā  and drives continuous improvement for right sizing inventory for Canadian Distribution Supply Chain.Ā  Collaborates with suppliers and internal functional disciplines to ensure high levels of service (in stock %) to our customers as well as optimization of inventory and minimizing product loss.Ā

Develops, implements best practices and continuous improvement projects resulting in greater efficiency and effectiveness.Ā  Responsible for personnel hiring/development/succession planning for future needs, goal setting to drive higher performance, and monitoring/meeting budget requirements.Ā 

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and implements standard practices for inventory management

  • Represents Gordon Food Service replenishment planners in collaboration across multiple departments and projects

  • Implements new distribution points within GFS network for broadline distribution

  • Initiates changes designed to improve control and efficiency of replenishment planners

  • Develops and establishes metrics for measurement of team performance, recognize accomplishments, set targets for improvement, and communicate the key objectives and goals

  • Collaborates with Distribution Centresā€™ Leadership teams on a regular basis regarding capacity planning, marketing intelligence, seasonal planning, etc

  • Build and maintain a strong supplier/customer base with positive relationships. This also includes development and maintenance of relationships with potential back-up suppliers.Ā 

  • Interact with the Forecasting, Marketing, and Sales organizations to review forecast for product demand, as well as with Operations to not only support inbound requirements, but also to optimize inventory levels/costs and freight efficiencies.

  • Define, plan, and execute projects (other than product development projects) to improve the existing business and set the stage for future growth

  • Primarily responsible for the development of project schedules, assigning key tasks and recruiting cross functional teams to execute the tasks and hold regular update meetings to ensure projects stay on track

  • Assists in hedging and forward buy opportunities relating to inventory managementĀ 

  • Interviews, hires, trains and retains staff.Ā  Conducts performance reviews for direct reports, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources.

  • Provides ongoing training and development for supervisors.

  • May perform the duties of those they supervise when needed.Ā 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or MarketingĀ Preferred

  • Five or more years of business experience and a minimum of 3 years in food service distribution, supply chain management, or logistics.Ā  Minimum of 1Ā  year of direct supervisory responsibilities. Prior experience in managing by influence across multiple teams/groups across an organization is preferred.Ā In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Supply Chain Management – knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office – especially Excel, as well as Google platform. Must be extremely organized, analytical and possess highly developed written/oral communication, management, training and interpersonal skills

  • Vision – ability to determine what the impact of future events will be and how to respond in a timely manner.

  • Human Relations – ability to work in teams, interact with others across departments/roles, develop relationships, etc.

  • Administration and Management ā€” Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Business Acumen – intuitive and applicable understanding of the financial, profitability and cash drivers, external environment, and the ā€œbig pictureā€ of the business to enable good, quick business decisions.

  • Self Management – self directed with ability to deal with distraction, repetition, prioritization, fluctuations in workload, ambiguity, etc.

  • Mathematical – knowledge of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiply, divide and percentages).

  • Communication – superior written, verbal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Time Management – ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute efficient work processes.

  • Customer Service – knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Problem Solver – ability to problem solve and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems by comparing, classifying, innovating, analyzing, coordinating, copying, etc. May refer to established precedents and policies.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, e-mail, google applications

  • Knowledge of supply chain software and business analytic reporting tools required

  • Normal office equipment, fax, copier, pc/laptop, printer
