Position Overview

Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position will be responsible for daily general maintenance upkeep such as the buildingā€™s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to ensure a safe, efficient and comfortable environment for building occupants. Ā Additionally, ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the Gordon Food Service warehouse and office facility. Working collaboratively with the maintenance team in compliance with company standards & specifications and all applicable legislation, regulation codes and standards.

Schedule: 4 X 10 | Sun – Tues, Sat | 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Wage: $29.50/hr

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance duties to upkeep the building

  • Conduct routine facility inspections of the building and equipment and identify any issues or safety hazards.

  • Assisting and working alongside technicians with repairs and maintenance projects.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.

  • Assist with setting up boardrooms with necessary equipment needed for events or office changesĀ 

  • Response promptly to attend requests from other departments and emergencies

  • Follow workplace safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Adhere to company policies for maintaining a safe and secure environment.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in operating hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner

  • Comfortable with heights while using equipment

  • Ability to lift, move and carry heavy objects

  • Ability to work in all environments (cooler, dry, and freezer) required.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions as requiredĀ 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to collaborate with other departments by building relationships and interacting effectively with all levels.

  • Proficient computer skills and good problem solving skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities and follow through on tasks from start to finish

  • High level of personal integrity, strong work ethic, safety orientated and attention to detail

  • Critical Thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to think strategically, analyze, understand the business and solve problems

  • Basic understanding of maintenance tasksĀ 

  • A strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting abilities

  • A team player with good communication skills including written and verbal

  • A strong background in facility preventative maintenance would be an asset

  • Other professional certificates and schooling would be an assetĀ 

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, racking, carpentry, welding and hydraulics is an asset

  • No formal written discipline.
