Position Summary:
The Trade Compliance Manager oversees the efficiency and accuracy of the companyā€™s import compliance programs. Works closely with other members of the trade compliance team to address areas of risk, develop and implement control and compliance framework, provide advisory mentorship and training. Supports the integration of trade management software and internet-based compliance solutions.
Cross-functional collaboration with various departments including Logistics, Legal, FSQA, Sales and Customer Support.Ā 

Location: Anywhere in Canada so long as the successful candidate is located within commutable distance to a GFS distribution centre.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains procedures streamlining the trade compliance assessment process.

  • Oversees the companyā€™s FTA management program.

  • Manages vendor and sourcing compliance screening.

  • Supports the organization with special projects related to import and export activities.

  • Supports customs compliance projects such as trade verifications, self corrections, and duty recovery.

  • Provides consultation and advice to senior management regarding areas of risk.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 yearsā€™ experience in trade compliance.

  • Knowledge of Canada & U.S. customs fundamentals Ā – classification, country of origin, valuation, and FTAs.

  • Experience with trade management software and internet-based trade compliance Ā programs.

  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously.

  • Results oriented with strong determination to succeed.

  • Positive attitude with a commitment to learning and desire for personal and professional growth.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • CCS Designation

  • LCB or CTCS certifications

  • Bachelor DegreeĀ preferably in Business Management or related field

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Google applications, Microsoft Office, email and internet software applications.
