La production des fruits, des l\u00e9gumes et d\u2019autres plantes est d\u00e9pendante du travail direct ou indirect des abeilles pollinisatrices. En fait, les abeilles sont n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la reproduction des plantes, car la f\u00e9condation de celles-ci permet aux fruits de se d\u00e9velopper. Malheureusement, il semblerait que la diminution du nombre d\u2019abeilles soit un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne reconnu mondialement. En 2013 et 2014 les apiculteurs canadiens ont perdus en moyenne 15 \u00e0 29% de leurs abeilles. L\u2019Ontario semblerait \u00eatre la province la plus touch\u00e9e avec une perte s\u2019\u00e9levant \u00e0 58% en 2014.  Les n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes, une classe d\u2019insecticides utilis\u00e9e pour la production du ma\u00efs et du soja, seraient en ce moment \u00e9tudi\u00e9s par Sant\u00e9 Canada comme \u00e9tant le principal coupable.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">L'impact de l'agriculture<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">L\u2019utilisation des n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes est approuv\u00e9e au Canada et ailleurs dans le monde depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Cette classe d\u2019insecticides est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e plus s\u00fbre pour la sant\u00e9 humaine que plusieurs autres. Les n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes agissent en attaquant le syst\u00e8me nerveux des invert\u00e9br\u00e9s. En 2012, 2013 et 2014 des incidents de mortalit\u00e9 d\u2019abeilles associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la semence de ma\u00efs ou de soja ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recens\u00e9s en Ontario, au Qu\u00e9bec et au Manitoba. Des inspections d\u00e9taill\u00e9es effectu\u00e9es par Sant\u00e9 Canada ont permis de conclure que les insecticides de la classe des n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes pr\u00e9sents dans la poussi\u00e8re lib\u00e9r\u00e9e durant la mise en terre de semences de ma\u00efs et de soja trait\u00e9es avaient contribu\u00e9 aux cas de mortalit\u00e9 d'abeilles d\u00e9clar\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">Probl\u00e8me de pollinisation<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Le probl\u00e8me r\u00e9side dans le fait que les abeilles ne servent pas seulement qu\u2019\u00e0 produire du miel; elles jouent un r\u00f4le important dans la pollinisation de plusieurs fruits comme les canneberges, les pommes, les bleuets, les fraises et les framboises. Sans abeilles, les productions agricoles de pommes et de citrouilles chuteraient de 90%. De plus, les productions de bleuets diminueraient de 80%. La production de miel est \u00e9videmment probl\u00e9matique avec la diminution du nombre d\u2019abeilles : on note une baisse de 30% par rapport \u00e0 la d\u00e9cennie pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Voil\u00e0 pourquoi il s\u2019agit d\u2019une situation alarmante pour le milieu agro-alimentaire!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me tr\u00e8s m\u00e9diatis\u00e9, depuis 2014, Sant\u00e9 Canada a \u00e9mis des nouvelles mesures pour r\u00e9duire l\u2019exposition aux pollinisateurs pendant la semence de ma\u00efs et de soja. On encadre l\u2019utilisation des n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes sans toutefois l\u2019emp\u00eacher. En ce moment, une r\u00e9\u00e9valuation de la valeur des n\u00e9onicotino\u00efdes est en cours pour revalider la possibilit\u00e9 des effets n\u00e9fastes sur les pollinisateurs. Ce processus pourrait prendre plusieurs ann\u00e9es malgr\u00e9 l\u2019urgence ressentie par les apiculteurs.  L\u2019agriculture biologique reste toutefois l\u2019avenue la plus s\u00e9curitaire en termes de protection de l\u2019environnement car elle emp\u00eache l\u2019utilisation de pesticides de synth\u00e8se et contribue ainsi \u00e0 pr\u00e9server les abeilles pollinisatrices.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know that 35% of the world\u2019s food production depends on pollination?
