Your special ingredient is a well-trained team ready to drive home excellence and make the dining experience special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You have established an inviting dining room with well-set tables. The next step is service excellence through guest interactions that create a relaxed, caring environment. It takes training and awareness built around several areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-know-the-five-basics\">Know the five basics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Great food won\u2019t overcome a bad guest experience. Make every setting desirable, whether serving residents of a senior living community, patients in a care setting, or those who are visiting or working in these spaces. These five basics make it a positive experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Look at me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smile at me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greet me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen to me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thank me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-understand-the-menu\">Understand the Menu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>People will have questions, so menu familiarity is important. To ensure a good experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Taste the food with your team before meal service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to explain daily features as well as the everyday offerings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know how the food was prepared.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know the portion sizes served.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know where you can find nutrition and allergy information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-practice-teamwork\">Practice teamwork<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Working together is key to an optimal experience. Make sure team members are aware how their actions impact others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be on time and complete your share of work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Watch for team members who are overwhelmed or running behind.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Always communicate and assist other team members if you are not busy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call on nursing or support staff, where available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave opinions aside during your shift.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-keep-communication-professional\">Keep communication professional<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking with teammates is part of service excellence. There are clear rules about communicating on the dining room floor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid personal conversations with other team members while helping guests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excuse yourself from the guest if a need arises to converse with another team member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never interrupt another team member when they are helping a guest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never discuss guests in front of other guests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never shout\/talk across the dining room to each other.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Train your team to make every dining experience special.
